Play Feature Spotlight. We-Saw. Encouraging movement, balance, and teamwork. This post shows children of different ages and abilities playing on a we-saw. This work is made possible through funding from the Michigan Department of Health Human Services (MDHHS) through Healthy Community Zones Initiative, in partnership with: Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District, Sault Area Public Schools, and Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency.

The We-Saw puts a new spin on the traditional seesaw experience by creating opportunities for children of varying ages and abilities to move, play, and discover together.

Intended for children ages 2–12, the We-Saw promotes balance, coordination, teamwork, and cooperative play through gentle rocking movement and shared interaction.

Features include:

• Wheelchair-accessible design

• Walk-in seating for easy access and transfer

• Controlled motion for a smoother riding experience

• Space for multiple children to play together

The We-Saw helps support inclusive play experiences where children and families can connect side-by-side at the Outdoor Discovery & Exploration Station at the Sault Early Learning Center.
