Explore the space. Fox den hangouts. Designed for quiet exploration and connection. This post shows two pictures of circle fox den hangouts in the grass. This work is made possible through funding from the Michigan Department of Health Human Services (MDHHS) through Healthy Community Zones Initiative, in partnership with: Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District, Sault Area Public Schools, and Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency.

The Fox Den® Hangouts are designed to create comfortable spaces where children can relax, connect, explore, or take a quiet break from the activity of the playground environment.

With gentle rocking motion, angled seating, open sides, and tactile materials, the Fox Den® Hangouts support sensory exploration, imaginative play, social interaction, and opportunities for both solo and shared experiences.

Suitable for children ages 2–12, this space was intentionally selected to help create a welcoming environment where children across different age groups can explore, engage, and connect in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to them.

Check out this new play feature and more coming to the Outdoor Discovery & Exploration Station at the Sault Early Learning Center.
