A dream for inclusive play and exploration is now a reality! On August 28, 2026, families, community partners, and supporters gathered to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of Exploration Station.
Designed for children and families of all abilities, Exploration Station provides an inviting outdoor environment where everyone belongs. Through play, movement, discovery, creativity, and connection, children can build important social, physical, and problem-solving skills while enjoying the outdoors.

đź•’Open to the public during evenings and weekends. For the safety of all visitors, the property is under surveillance.
This project was made possible through a $740,000 Healthy Community Zones grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District (EUPISD) and Sault Area Public Schools (SAPS). We are grateful for the community partnerships and shared vision that helped bring this space to life.
And this is just the beginning! What you see today represents Phase 1 of Exploration Station. Additional play equipment, seating areas, and shaded gathering spaces will be added during Phase 2, beginning this fall and continuing into Spring 2027.
